Mahira Khan opens up about divorce from ex-husband Ali Askari; Calls it ‘painful and difficult,’ details

Mahira Khan: The Pakistani actress who made her debut in Bollywood while acting alongside King Khan in the hit movie ‘Raees’ recently appeared in an interview. Although it wasn’t easy, the actress mustered up all her courage and shared the agonizing memories of her divorce from Ali Askari, her childhood love.

But when asked about her personal life, the actor said, “…it was a tough time.” Mahira appeared on the latest episode of the FWhy Podcast hosted by Frieha Altaf. Usually, the star doesn’t share much from her personal life with the public. However, she was very brave in talking about the heartbreaking events that unfolded as she progressed in her married life, her fight against depression and anxiety, the industry’s hostility against female actresses, etc.

Mahira Khan is very protective when it comes to her family. But at the same time, if there is the slightest possibility of inspiring someone with her narrative, she wouldn’t back down. With that kept in mind, Mahira opened up to Frieha in the interview about her broken relationship with Ali Askari. Although they were deeply in love since childhood, things didn’t turn out to be the same between the two post-marriage. As they progressed further in life, their relationship began to decline gradually. The couple have a baby boy named Azlaan and referring to him she said, “Post Azu, I knew my marriage was…even prior, I think. But I think you let it go on and you love the person, who is your childhood sweetheart. But I think that was a very painful and difficult time. I was so young at the time. I had a baby, I was scared.”

Mahira discloses that her work was her abode

The actress didn’t shy away from accepting the dark phase in her life. However, she managed to overcome it by indulging herself deeply in her work. She also admitted that it was for the sake of her child that she wanted to be independent and keep moving forward. She said, “I knew that I would take my child but I knew that I didn’t want to be dependent on anyone, not even my parents. When there was nobody with me, I had my work. It was a huge support.”
