Oppenheimer Controversy: Despite having an impressive opening day, bagging nearly 1.3 lakh ticket sales and making an astounding Rs 13.50 crore, Christopher Nolan’s most recent venture, Oppenheimer, has encountered a rough patch. The storm centres on a scene involving the Bhagavad Gita, an eminent Hindu scripture, which has caused uproar in India.

Demand for CBFC and Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Action

Mahurkar has voiced his astonishment at the Central Board of Film Certification’s (CBFC) sanction of the movie despite containing the controversial scene. He has appealed to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to carry out an immediate investigation and impose stern penalties on those involved. Mahurkar further emphasises the prevalent social milieu, indicating the entertainment industry’s regular apathy towards cultural and moral values, leading to increased public dissatisfaction.
