Some of us love to keep ourselves hydrated all the time, even before sleeping. But is it really advisable to drink water before going to sleep? Is it good or bad for your body? Find out below.

Health tips on drinking water before sleeping

Effect on kidneys

You may have always heard that drinking a lot of water is extremely healthy for your kidneys as it aids in their proper functioning. However, experts suggest that you must stop consuming water one or two hours before hitting the bed as it may increase the risk of spiking kidney-related issues.

Weak bladder ruins sleep

Nobody likes to wake up in the middle of a nice relaxing sleep and it is not even advised to break your sleep cycle. Drinking too much water before sleeping may fill your bladder with urine and will disturb your sleep in turn. It is not always possible to get back to a peaceful sleep once it is broken. Not getting proper sleep may result in several health issues like weight gain, headaches, body aches, etc. One of the major risks of not sleeping properly is having high blood pressure along with stress and anxiety. Next time if you feel stressed out or anxious, make sure you are getting enough sleep.

Therefore, while drinking water in high quantities every day may be a good habit, you must watch out for your timings. Make sure your sleep is not affected by your water intake. Moreover, if you want those kidneys to stay healthy for long, finish up your water routine at least 2 hours before hitting the bed.
